Working in todays world requires a phone.  Heck, living in this world seems to require a phone.  But with so many choices out there there has got to be a better way than picking the latest model that the mobile store wants to sell you.  Many people just believe that a new phone is better and only hear of the improvements.  I will break down the top measurements of phones performance and argue my case for these top work horses for modern business.

Android:

#1 – Motorola G Power 2025

My overall pick for top work phone for the trades: painters, roofers, landscape artists, plumbers and all the other jobs similar, is the 2025 Motorola G Power. The phone features an excellent battery, storage expandable up to 1 Terabyte and durable front glass.

The display is LCD, which is not going to win a beauty contest but is durable with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 durability built into the glass.  The display is large coming in at 6.8 inches.  Cameras are excellent with wide angle 8MP and a 50MP main camera.  The phone has an expandable slot up to 1 Terabyte of storage through MicroSD.  Perfect for storing thousands of photos and videos of all your work.  Best of all is the 5000mAh battery with TurboCharging (30watt) full charge in 1 hour 24minutes.  For a comparison my Moto G Power (2021) has the original battery in it which makes the battery 4 years old, it holds a charge with moderate use for over 2 days!

Repairability Perspective 7/10 – inexpensive display and battery offers affordable repairs!

iOS:

#1 – iPhone 12 Pro Max (Refurbished)

If you prefer iOS then the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max is my pick for a work worthy phone.  The display is similar in size to the Motorola mentioned previously.  The 12 Pro Max measures in at 6.7 inches  and is the first incarnation of the Ceramic-infused display which was meant to make the glass more durable.  The gasket around the screen also saw an upgrade with the iPhone 12 series.  I can really tell the difference when working on the screen of how strong the screen is held down.  

A new feature with the 12 Pro Series is LIDAR which is a laser on the rear of the phone near the cameras, this gives the ability to build 3D models of rooms and structures.  This could be used in the home renovation field to help convey build plans to customers.  The battery is large and comes in at 3687mAh and 1 hour to full charge.
